Lory Sillars-Powell

Lory joined Southdown's London office in 2018 as an Environmental Technician and is now based in in the Air Quality Team as an Assistant Environmental Consultant. He provides support to the Senior and Principal Consultants on air quality and occupational hygiene projects. Having completed his IOA Certificate of Competence in Environmental Noise Measurement he is also involved with undertaking attended noise surveys in addition to assisting with the management of noise, vibration and dust monitoring equipment in the field.

Lory is an Associate Member of the Institute of Air Quality Management (IAQM) and the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) and has previous experience as an Environmental Scientist and Occupational Hygienist, which he gained whilst working in an UKAS accredited environmental laboratory. This has provided a good background and understanding of occupational hygiene issues and environmental chemistry.

Lory holds BSc in Environmental Science and achieved a Distinction in his MSc in Environmental Geology and Contamination. His studies covered a broad range of environmental issues where he developed a keen interest in pollution and contamination. For his final project he investigated the use of shrub and herbaceous plant species for the capture and immobilisation of particulate matter.
