The former national policy on planning and noise (PPG24) was withdrawn in 2010, and national guidance for noise now resides in the Noise Policy Statement England (NPSE) and the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). Whilst neither of the documents provide objective guidance in the same form that PPG24 did, they nonetheless set-out the generalised requirements in terms of Significant Observed Adverse Effect Level (SOAEL), Lowest Observed Adverse Effect Level (LOAEL) and the No Observed Adverse Effect Level (NOAEL).
