Crossrail
Southdowns continues to provide specialist services to the largest railway project in the UK

Southdowns has been involved in key areas of support to the project since the Crossrail Bill gained Royal Assent in July 2008.
Those areas include:
- advice to the Crossrail enviroment department on tender clauses for the enabling works contract documentation;
- participation on an expert panel on a Network Rail / Crossrail Joint Working Party tasked with investigating operational and maintenance issues associated with the steep gradients in tunnels;
- preparation of technical reports to provide advice on the implications of certain Crossrail groundborne noise and vibration related commitments;
- preparation of, and negotiation on, Section 61 (CoPA 1974) consent applications and associated matters for the site investigation contractors, and on behalf of the Crossrail Enabling Works Managing Agent; and
- participation on a Network Rail / Crossrail Track Working Party considering the effects and implications of rail / wheel interface roughness limits on the Crossrail maintenance strategy.
