Sound Insulation Testing

The purpose of the sound insulation testing is to ascertain whether the party-wall and floor construction complies with the numerical performance standards stated in Approved Document E of the Building Regulations.

Airborne and party-wall sound insulation tests are carried out using a combination of noise sources, sound level meters and tapping machines.

It is often preferable for developers to seek specialist design advice in advance of conducting tests to avoid the cost and programme risk associated with the need for retro-fitting and re-testing.

Southdowns is a registered organisation under the Association of Noise Consultants Registration Scheme for pre-completion testing. This ensures that all testing and reporting follows strict procedures and quality standards. Test certificates are provided for tests that pass the relevant numerical standards.
