Gary Wickens joined Southdowns in September 2011 as an Assistant Acoustic Consultant. He previously worked within the environmental team of a major UK infrastructure support service provider, undertaking environmental assessment to inform the design management of projects across a range of sectors including highways, rail and development control.

He has a first class honours degree in geography, having completed a dissertation on sustainable development strategies for local planning authorities, and a Masters degree in Sustainable Environmental Management with distinction. His specialist interests include noise, vibration and air quality assessment.

Gary’s role with Southdowns sees him working on a range of projects, which involve the measurement, assessment and reporting of environmental noise impacts. He provides additional technical support to existing consultants at all grades. Most recently Gary has been involved with the installation and management of remote access noise, vibration and air quality monitoring systems for a number of construction projects in central London.

Gary has an Institute of Acoustics Certificate of Competence in Environmental Noise Monitoring and is currently studying part-time on the Institute’s Diploma in Acoustics at the North East Surrey College of Technology (NESCOT) in Epsom.
