Philip Evans joined Southdowns as a Director in December 2009; prior to that from 2001, he was the Operational Director of the RPS Planning and Development Ltd office based in Brighton; and prior to that, he was a Director of Ashdown Environmental Ltd which he assisted in establishing in 1988 and which was acquired by RPS in 2001. Philip has a MSc in Acoustics, Vibration and Noise Control and is a Member of the Institute of Acoustics and a Fellow of the Geological Society; he is also a member of ANC Vibration Working Group which develops guidance for vibration measurements and assessments and is a member of the British Standards Institution (BSi) Committee GME/21/6/4 - BS 6472: Guide to Evaluation of Human Exposure to Vibration in Buildings and the BSi Committee B/564/01 on BS 5228: Noise and Vibration Control on Construction and Open Sites. Whilst having a senior management role, Philip is a specialist noise and vibration consultant with over 20 years experience in the technical and project management of environmental noise and vibration impact assessments for major developments. He has expertise in the industrial/commercial, transportation and construction sectors including the measurement, calculation, evaluation and mitigation of environmental noise and vibration. He is also experienced in the preparation and presentation of technical evidence for public inquiries, planning applications and liaison with Government Departments, local authorities and other statutory bodies.
